SOLIDARITY
The working class of Greece honoured
Workers’ May Day, organising demonstrations in 70
cities. It sent α message of struggle against capital
and imperialism and its class-oriented solidarity with
peoples that resist.
G. Perros, who is a member of the Executive
Secretariat of PAME, addressed the central speech
at the demonstration of Athens.
“We honour the deceased of our class, who
gave their life educating many generations. Their
sacrifice gives us courage to continue our ceaseless
struggle against plutocracy and imperialism” he
stressed in his speech.
He concluded: “We give our full efforts to
organize the working class in the trade unions, to
improve their function, to strengthen their bonds with
the workers; we pay special attention to the youth,
women and immigrants. To achieve the class-
oriented unity of the working class and its
alliance with the poor peasants and the self-
occupied.

We continue our efforts to form even more
Committees of Struggle within the workplaces and
neighborhoods. We organize our counter-attack
against the antilabor measures; we continue our
struggle to assert better collective agreements for the
working class’ interests”.
In the central demonstration that was held in
Athens, there was mass participation of workers from
Turkey, Kurdistan, Pakistan who clamoured slogans
in their mother tongue. “Workers of the world
unite” said the members of the Bangladeshi Workers
Union.
Following the demonstration there was a
march to the E.U. offices and the American Embassy.
The demonstrators set loose a balloon outside the
E.U. offices, which had attached a sign saying “No to
the Euro-treaty – E.U., Hold a referendum now!”
As demonstrators reached the American
Embassy, they chanted “Killers of the peoples,
Americans”.
A huge sign was raised, saying “Imperialism
is not invincible!”.
Messages of struggle for the Workers’ May Day
were sent to PAME by the Nepal Trade Union
Federation (NTUF), the Centre of Indian Trade
Unions (CITU), the National Confederation of Trade
Unions (ZENROREN, Japan) and the Federacion
Nacional de Trabajadores Mineros Metalurgicos y
Siderurgicos del Peru (FNTMMSP).

Russia
The Workers’ May Day was celebrated in
more than 1.063 cities of Russia with the
participation of more than 1,5 million Russians
who raised the red flags.
Cuba
Hundreds of thousands of Cubans showed
once again their support to the Cuban Revolution,
its leader Fidel Castro and the President Raul
Castro during the May Day demonstration.
It must be noted that 1.460 foreign
guests from 62 countries participated in the
demonstrations.
Lebanon
Thousands of Lebanese people deluged
the roads of Beirut to honour Workers’ May Day.
Turkey
The Turkish government prevented
thousands of workers in Istanbul to demonstrate
on May 1
st
in Taxim Square using terrorism and
violence.
The real aim of the government was not
only to prevent the march from reaching the Taxim
square, but also to prohibit every demonstration
that would remind the Workers’ May Day.
Sri Lanka
Amidst the civil
war that the people of Sri
Lanka live, thousands of
workers participated in the
celebration
of
the
Workers’ May Day.
Brazil
More than 500 thousands workers
participated in the May Day demonstration of Sao
Paolo. G. Mavrikos, the General Secretary of the
W.F.T.U. addressed a speech in this
demonstration.
